On November 12, 2019, Yasir Yilmaz (Olomouc) will present a keynote lecture on "1683: A New History" at the Institut für Neuzeit- und Zeitgeschichtsforschung (INZ) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna. Maria Baramova (Sofia), Yavus Köse (Vienna) and Konrad Petrovszky (Vienna) have been invited as commentators.
Summer School 2019, Vienna
The Institut für Neuzeit- und Zeitgeschichtsforschung (INZ) is organising a is organizing a two-week intensive summer school devoted to comparative reading and analysis of early modern (1500-1800) Habsburg and Ottoman primary sources. During the two-week program that will take place between July 22 and August 2, 2019, participants will decipher and analyze many different types of early modern documents concerning the early modern histories of the Habsburg Monarchy and Ottoman Empire. The first week of the program (July 22-26) will be devoted to Habsburg sources, while the second week (July 29-August 2) will be devoted to Ottoman sources. In addition to morning classes where the participants will study archival documents with experienced teachers, leading researchers will deliver thematical afternoon lectures. There will also be guided tours of some of the most important archives in Vienna.
